Do you have a favorite scent from nature?  A scent that reminds you of a special occasion, a special place, or person? One of my favorite scents from nature is the smell of Georgia honeysuckle in the springtime.  It’s a little odd to me that one of my favorite scents is actually from an invasive weed but I absolutely love the smell of honeysuckle.

When I was growing up in North Georgia we lived on 5 acres with only two neighbors and lots of woods to play in.  My younger brother and I were always outside exploring the old paths in the woods pretending that they were old roads and looking for hidden treasure.  I don’t think we ever found anything exciting but we always had fun on our expeditions.  I knew it was spring when I would start to smell the honeysuckle on our journeys.  You could smell the honeysuckle before you would actually see it in bloom.  In addition to the sweet smell of honeysuckle I loved the white flowering blooms; did you know they produce a sweet honey nectar that you can actually eat?  We would collect the flowers, remove the stamens, and suck out the ‘honey.’  The blooming season never lasted very long so we indulged ourselves on the honeysuckle while we could.

We moved out of that house right after high school.  My brother moved away not long after he graduated and we both went our separate ways.  We stay in touch but it’s not quite the same as it was when we were little.  When I got married after college my husband and I bought our first house in West Georgia and we had some honeysuckle on our property but not nearly as much as what I grew up with.  Not long after we moved to Florida and I haven’t smelled the scent of honeysuckle in nature for years.  When I find lotions, candles, or cleaning products that smell like honeysuckle I always buy them to bring back those childhood memories.

Everything is served up fast food style which includes plastic (reusable) baskets lined with paper, burrito’s wrapped in foil, styrofoam cups and plastic lids for side dishes, paper cups, plastic lids, and straws!  By the end of our meal the mound of trash was enough to make me cry - and it all went right into the trash!! I’m sure they may be saving operating costs but there really has to be a better way, especially since they strive on their sustainability.

It’s not all about the waste though, Moe’s is doing good things in the food industry.  They have also joined forces with the Meatless Monday campaign to reduce our individual meat consumption by 15% each week.  Eating less meat helps us live a healthier life and treats the planet with a little extra TLC.  Eating less meat will help us reduce our carbon footprint, reduce our water consumption, and reduce our fossil fuel dependence.  Amazing what changing our diets one day a week can do for the Earth.  To learn more please visit Meatless Mondays where they have a ton of information on the movement along with a large selection of meatless recipes for your Mondays (or any day).

Breakfast: Their usual – frozen pancakes or cereal depending on their moods.

Lunch: Lil’ B gets her lunch packed by me so it looks like a PB&J kinda day with some fruit and cheese.  Big B gets his lunch from school so I’ll let him decide how to handle that.  I’ll probably just grab a quick salad and the spouse – well he’s on his own!

Dinner: Black Bean Pasta Rollups (from our e-mealz <affiliate> recipes for last week)

Or we could just go to Moe’s and get one of their meatless burrito’s like the Art Vandalay!!!

Many months ago I was introduced to Sarah at SoftBums with the opportunity to review the Perfect Fit (now called the Echo Slide2Size) cloth diaper.  If you’d like to refer back to my origianl review please read, Why SoftBums Are Really the Perfect Fit Cloth Diaper.  Since trying the Echo diaper with my growing toddler (now 21 months) I’ve noticed some areas where the diaper could use some adjusting – since my tot is no longer a tiny baby the width in the crotch area seems a little narrow and snug.  I’m constantly having to make sure the insert is snug inside the cover.  If you play around with the insert (Pod) you can still get a perfect fit from the Echo but it takes some practice. 

So I’m very excited to see the new changes that SoftBums has introduced with their new OMNI diaper.  This diaper is brand new and will go on pre-sale today – with orders delivered in November.  The OMNI is an addition to the SoftBums line and won’t replace the Echo.  This is a wise decision because the changes allow parents to customize the needs of their baby – which we know is difficult to do in one diaper. 

Some NEW features:

• The OMNI is a multi-purpose pocket diaper.  It can be used as a pocket, an AI2, or as a cover – you decide how to use it. 
• The OMNI still features the patent pending Slide2Size leg adjustments <see picture #6> eliminating the need for rise snaps.
• The OMNI will still fit a newborn from about 5lb to a toddler of about 35lb.
• The OMNI has extended the width of the wings to fit around the chunkier baby belly.

STUFF IT!  The OMNI now comes with a pocket much like other one-size diapers.  Stuff as many layers as you need too meet the needs of your baby. 

SNAP IT!  The SoftBums Pods (inserts) snap into the pocket to prevent the pod from shifting or sticking out the back of the diaper.   

COVER IT!  The OMNI can be used without a pod as a swim cover, or with any type of insert as a diaper cover.  Simply place your desired insert into the pocket and cover that babies bum.  Multi-purpose at it’s best!

The OMNI will be available in 3 colors; Snowcone (light blue), Coconut (white), and Sprout (green – pictured above).  I hear they even plan on releasing some new prints in October at the #ABCKidsExpo in Las Vegas.

Faceoff - Echo (in Pumpkin) VS Omni (in Sprout)

1. In the first picture you can already tell that they Omni is longer and wider than the Echo.  This is great for the growing baby and toddler and allows you to add an extra pod for nighttime.
2. The Echo on top of the OMNI to show the differences again.
3. With the Echo there is no pocket to stuff which is actually my favorite feature – no stuffing!  This feature actually saves time on laundry day.
4. I found the OMNI difficult to stuff with the biggest Pod – the SoftBum pods are very long and require folding to fit.  It’s hard to stuff an insert that long into a pocket.  However, if you are using the smaller insert (or your personal favorite inserts) this may not be an issue.  With the Echo you can also reuse the cover/shell and replace only the pod if your baby has only pee’d – saving you time and money.  They both offer unique features.
5. On the newborn setting I found the Echo to be slightly smaller – but that’s the point of the OMNI is to be bigger for toddlers.  Have a newborn?  Try the Echo first!
6. The awesome Slide2Size adjuster is the same in both diapers.

My pick?  There is no clear winner since I can see each of them as having strengths - only at different ages.  If you are looking for something for a smaller baby or with a trim fit I would pick the Echo.  If you have a chunkier baby or need maximum absorbency I would pick the OMNI.  Why not buy a few of each and decide for yourself!  EDITED TO ADD: This video presentation does a great job describing the OMNI cloth diaper.  It will clarify the Stuff It, Snap It, Cover It concept slightly different than I did in this post.

Look at all of those adorable prints!  A CuteyBaby cloth diaper would be perfect on those spring and summer days with just a t-shirt or a dress.  They are so stylish and adorable!  I was super excited when CuteyBaby founder, Ada, and I began talking about partnering to do a review of her brand new cloth diaper.  I have a pretty boring stash with very little prints.  Honestly, this is my ONLY print diaper that I own.  I wasn’t prepared for the WOW factor when the diaper arrived.  Here is what WOW’d me: 

1.  The adorable purple and lime print.
2.  The soft fabric exterior. 
3.  All in one!  No stuffing required!
4.  Removable Velcro tabs. 

Yes, you heard me right…REMOVABLE Velcro tabs.  My primarily BG stash is just over a year old and our Velcro is showing it’s age.  I now open the washer (or dryer) and find the dreaded Velcro chain of diapers.  The Velcro is sticking to everything except the laundry tabs and probably needs to be replaced…but I’m lazy!  (Who am I kidding…I’m a busy working mom of 2!)  When I saw that the CuteyBaby Velcro tabs were removable I immediately wrote Ada and complimented her on the innovative design.  I then told a friend all about it…in total awe!  When it’s time to remove the diaper (or before you wash it) you simply remove the Velcro tabs (and remember where you put them!) so you avoid the wear and tear on your diapers.

So I’ve used our CuteyBabyfor several weeks now and I’m still in wow…but lower case wow.  I have a few issues with the diaper that I’ve brought to the attention of Ada.  (After all…part of reviewing these diapers is to be honest and not only educate you…but help improve the diaper in the future!)  The Velcro strip (in my opinion) is too high up on the front of the diaper.  Since the Velcro is removable the tabs bend outward leaving a bit of the Velcro exposed.  Since it sits so high on the front it rubs on Lil’ Bs belly.  Scratchy Velcro on soft baby belly isn’t pleasant.  Ada is actually looking at moving the strip down 1/4″ on the next production. 

The diaper that I was sent didn’t come with rise adjusting snaps.  Ada explained that the current version comes with snap adjustments that will allow this diaper to fit a newborn.  The version I reviewed (without snaps) is perfect for the larger baby but definitely not a newborn.  In fact, I almost needed at least one snap on ours to fit more snug.  But we’ve only had one leaky incident so I’m not that worried about it.  The current size recommendation is from 10-30lbs.   

As our lives continue to get busier and time is more valuable I appreciate the All-in-Ones a little more each day.  I am actually starting to dread the 30 minute stuff fest that occurs on wash day.  I have a drier full right now that needs stuffing.  Thankfully, I own a few AIO like the CuteyBaby that will make life easier.
