Ecocentric Mom Box Review October

EcoCentricMom

The mailman once again delivered my small box of eco-friendly goodies (sent to me for review from Ecocentric Mom - affiliate link).  My mail guy (Jeffrey) knows when to bring the bundle of goodies to my door and when to leave them in the mailbox; this is one of those times when he knocks. Since his deliveries have become later and later in the day, I have to fight my kids for a few minutes of peace while I open MY box.  I explain to them that MAYBE I'll share some of the goods with them....MAYBE! I slowly cut a slit in the packing tape and find the pretty pink tissue paper staring up at me with love. I resist the urge to rip the paper and tear into the goods.  Instead I gently pull open the tissue paper to see what awaits me.  This month was fun, and I did end up sharing a few things with my kids. The Duck & Goose Find a Pumpkin book came just in time for my newest little bookworm to enjoy for Fall.  You can find this adorable board book (and other books by Tad ... [ Read More ]

Fun Things To Do at TradeWinds Island Resort With Kids

Fun Things To Do at TradeWinds Island Resort With Kids

If you're looking for a fun place to take your kids for a fun filled day (or week) on the beach, consider visiting St. Pete Beach and the TradeWinds Island Resort.  The weather is still warm in Florida this Fall and the water is still warm enough to swim.  My daughter and I were invited to spend a day at TradeWinds earlier this summer and I'm ready to go back! I hold a special place in my heart for St. Pete Beach. When I was growing up, my Grandmother lived one block from TradeWinds and I spent a lot of time as a child playing in the Gulf of Mexico. I remember vividly walking down to the beach with our arms full of sand toys.  I remember vividly how she used to sit on the beach for hours reading her books.  I remember vividly walking down the street to Larry's Ice Cream.  I used to love picking out a new souvenir at the little shop in front of her complex.  I still get a little teary eyed when I drive past the complex where she used to live (she died when I was in high ... Nut-Free School Lunch Ideas – Fun With Lunch Series

Nut Free School Lunch Ideas

Have a little fun with your kids lunches this year.  You don’t have to spend hours creating beautiful Bento Boxes that look like Hello Kitty to make them fun.  Your kids will love the little touches and I promise, you can do this in less than 5 minutes! With an increased awareness of nut allergies, many classrooms and schools are going nut-free for everyone.  I know that my daughter's class is completely nut-free (a few children in her class have nut-allergies) and it can be challenging to find things they will eat that comply with the nut-free zone.  As a mom who loves peanut butter, it hurts to have to spend a little extra money on peanut-free butters - but the lives of the other children are worth more than those few dollars.  I'm thankful that I don't have to stress out about my child being exposed to nuts in the classroom because it only takes one small encounter for an allergic child to have a reaction that could be fatal. Note: Some of the products featured in this post ... [ Read More ]

Whole Foods Clearwater Opens September 24th

Whole Foods Clearwater Grand Opening

Set your alarms and get ready for the Grand Opening of the brand new Whole Foods Market in Clearwater this Wednesday (Sept 24th) morning at 9am.  They will be opening the store with a traditional bread breaking ceremony right at 9am.  Be one of the first 500 guests and you'll receive a free gift certificate ranging from $5 to $500.  I don't know about you, but I would LOVE to win a $500 gift certificate to Whole Foods!!! The social media and marketing team at Whole Foods invited a group of local bloggers for a tour and tasting event tonight.  Our bellies were filled with some really amazing foods that you just can't find at other local grocery stores.  For me, there aren't many different places to shop in North Pinellas besides the traditional grocery stores.  There are a few specialty stores (some of which I truly LOVE...Kym, you know I love you) but not many places I can complete my entire shopping trip without having to bounce from store to store.  If you're looking for a place ... diaperneed

September 8-14, 2014 is Diaper Need Awareness week. This event was started by the National Diaper Bank Network to recognize the diaper gap in America. My friends at Giving Diapers, Giving Hope are part of the solution to diaper need. They’ve helped over 600 families and shipped nearly 11,000 cloth diapers to qualified families for just the cost of shipping since they began in 2011. To raise awareness about Diaper Need and help more families get the cloth diapers they provide they are sponsoring #GivingHope September 8-16! They want to challenge YOU to pick ONE cloth diaper in good used condition, or new condition to send to us. For many of you it won’t be much of a challenge. They also want your donation to inspire others so if you'd like, post a photo to Instagram! Here is how: 1. Take a photo of you with a diaper in an envelope addressed to: GDGH Donations C/O The Natural Baby Co 1203 North Rouse Unit 3E Bozeman MT 59715 2. Cover your return address with your hand or a ... What Makes a Lennar Home “Mommy Certified?” #MommyCertified

Spacious Rooms #MommyCertified

Disclosure: This post is sponsored by Lennar Tampa. The opinions shared are my own. For the past few months I've been working on the Mommy Certified campaign with Lennar Homes of Tampa.  Before I started working on this campaign I wondered, "what exactly is a Mommy Certified home?" Think about all of the things on your dream home "wish list" and this is probably what a Mommy Certified home includes.  Take a few minutes and watch this short video about what I think a Mommy Certified home is. To view on YouTube: http://youtu.be/04mU9eEPReM To summarize the video's main highlights: 1. A Mommy Certified home should be in your perfect community.  What do you look for in a new home community? Conservation lots, community pools, play grounds, or centrally located to a popular city.  Lennar Homes communities are located nearby all the major parts of Tampa and surrounding areas. 2. Spacious Floor Plans.  We all need a little more space in a home don't we?  Even in the smaller ... [ Read More ]

Sleepover Survival Tips For Parents

Sleepover Survival Tips For Parents

...and when I say parents, I really mean you - mom! At 11 years old my son has only had about 3-4 sleepovers and they've all been at our house.  I'm starting to wonder if sleepovers are still a "thing" that kids do.  Regardless, this past weekend my son convinced me that he should invite 2 of his good friends over for a sleepover. It gets better... ...he also invited the 5 year old sister of one of the boys to have a sleepover with my 5 year old daughter (they go to school together also). That's right, my son convinced me that having 5 kids in my house this weekend was a good idea!  Did I mention that I decided to go buy a car on the same day as the sleepover?  With 2 kids? By myself?  Um, yeah.... After visiting 3 car dealerships with 2 bored kids and signing the papers to my brand new Jeep Cherokee, I rushed home to a messy house to welcome 3 additional kids over for the night.  I must have still been on my "new car" high because I welcomed these kids with a huge smile ... 5 Reasons Skating Rinks Need Open Bars for Parents

Source: http://www.seskate.com/news/older-news/items/60-skate-mate-trainer.html

We are nearing the end of the second week of school and I just survived the first school skate night of the year....barely!  I am convinced that every skating rink needs to have an open bar for the parents and taxi's waiting outside to take them home afterwards. 5 Reasons Skating Rinks Should Have Open Bars for the Parents 1. Your kid doesn't know how to skate!  It's only been 2 months since she last practiced with her friend but she was terrified because of all the big kids on the rink.  She decided to cry instead. 2. Your child's friends skate better and faster than they do!  Her little BFF just wanted to skate and had no fear.  They both had their little PVC trainers (see here if you don't know what I'm talking about), but her friend was faster than her.  She decided to stop and cry instead of catch up with her friend. 3. Big brother is skating with his friends and not little sister!  Big brother is (finally) confident with his mediocre skating abilities and is off ... [ Read More ]
