Sea World’s Christmas Celebration 2015

Sea World Christmas Celebration

This past weekend we were invited to Sea World's Christmas Celebration to get a glimpse behind the scenes and to learn more about the special Christmas performances going on around the park.  Unlike some of the other area theme parks, Sea World includes their Christmas performances with your regular park admission.  Plus, kids get in FREE through the end of December with a paying adult. Sea World will always hold a special place in my heart and the Christmas spirit just enhances that love of the park and the work they do to help preserve our natural world. I found myself a little teary eyed during some of the performances.  Even if you only go for a few hours, here is my list of 5 things you don't want to miss at Sea World in December. 1. Polar Express - Sea World has once again transformed the polar exhibit into a train ride on the Polar Express that takes you to the North Pole to meet Santa Clause.  The experience is based off the popular Christmas movie, the Polar Express. ... 2015 Cloth Diaper Color Trends According to Pantone

2015 Pantone Color Trends

It was announced on Thursday that the 2015 Pantone Color of the Year is Marsala, 18-1438. Marsala is a naturally robust and earthy red wine color and I suspect it's only a matter of time before you start seeing Marsala (0r a something similar) in the cloth diaper industry. Here's a look some of the other top Pantone colors that are likely to appear on a cloth diaper for 2015. 2015 Cloth Diaper Color Trends According to Pantone Some of the color trends have already started to make their way into some popular cloth diapers recently.  While the colors may not be exact matches, remember that many manufactures will divert from the Pantone scale just slightly so they don't come out with the same exact color as their competitors. Strawberry Ice 16-1721 Strawberry Ice looks really similar to the new Sloomb Strawberry Longies. Classic Blue 19-4052 Classic Blue and bumGenius Stellar (coming soon) have some striking similarities. How to Attend a Google+ Chat / Hangout On Air

ScreenShot1

Google+ is one social media outlet that needs a little explaining.  I'm not sure why Google thinks these things need to be complicated.  Regardless of how complicated Google+ may seem, there are some really cool features if you have patience to learn how to use them.  Google+ Chats (or Hangouts On Air) are a fun way for you to interact with bloggers, brands, and friends live on air. The first thing you'll need to do is set up a Google account if you don't already have one.  Most of us have one connected to Gmail, YouTube, or other Google owned application.  Once you have a Google account you can set up your Google+ profile.  It's very similar to setting up a Twitter or Facebook profile and you can decide what information to share.  If you're using your mobile device or tablet you may need to download the Google+ app first. Next you'll need to RSVP or confirm that you'll be attending (or watching) a specific chat or hangout.  For the reference of this post we'll be using the ... [ Read More ]

10 Reasons to Fall in Love with Hockey – Tampa Bay Lightning

BoltsSocial

It's no secret that our family loves sports.  Our primary love is college football (go Dawgs!!), but we have fun watching just about any sporting event.  It's been quite a while since we've been to a hockey game, so I was excited when the Tampa Bay Lightning and Amalie Arena invited me to be their social captain a few weeks ago.  I wanted to share with you just a few of our favorite moments from the night and 10 reasons why we love the Bolts!  #1: Social Media Captain - What's not to love about a sports team who is social and engages with their fans over social media.  On game nights, Twitter and Instagram are filled with several different #hashtags from fans attending the game.  The Bolts & Amalie Arena have a very interactive program and hold lots of contests for their social fans.  As the Social Media Captain, we got to show the fans a little more about the team and the arena - from behind the scenes! #2: Behind the scenes experience - When we arrived we were met ... Thirsties NEW Ocean Collection {and a Giveaway}

ThirstiesWhaleGiveaway

With the chill in the air across most parts of the country today, the new Thirsties Ocean Collection makes me want to pack up and move to a tropical island paradise.  I know I really shouldn't complain with highs in the 50-60's here in Florida, but those 35-45 degree mornings are chilly for my thin blood.  (I don't expect any sympathy from my northern friends.) Thirsties actually revealed their Ocean Collection earlier this Fall but they weren't done with production yet.  You don't have to wait any longer though, because retailers have them in stock starting today! There are 5 new prints and 2 new solids making up the Ocean Collection.  The prints are all soft tones of blue, yellow, grey and salmon on a white PUL.  The 2 new solids are Coral and Fin.  The prints include fun little fish, whales, squid, and sand dollars.  While the prints do have a lot of blue; they are very gender neutral and would be adorable on your little sailor or mermaid. The Ocean Collection are available ... [ Read More ]

Save Water, Drink Wine

Moms Drink Wine to Save Water

Have you ever had one of those weeks where everything goes haywire?  It's been one of those weeks here for sure!  It started on Monday when my daughter decided to cut her hair at school. That was followed by a parent/teacher conference for testing our boundaries with our new teacher, then with a phone call that she had fell and scraped her face up pretty bad, followed by a stomach bug getting my oldest for 24 hours, delays at work due to other people's emergencies, and planning for Black Friday madness at work.  Oh, and I have to get all the laundry done today so that I can pack tonight for a trip. I've felt like crying on more than one occasion this week; but I saved the tears and drank wine instead! Now that both kids are back in school today and (so far) there have been no more accidents, I'm going to treat myself to a wine tasting tonight..... ...and you're invited!! Amista Vineyards, Frick Winery, and F. Teldeschi Winery have teamed up for a live Ustream (and ... [ Read More ]

Surviving Parenthood…..one bag of hair at a time!

Surviving Parenthood one bag of hair at a time

Parenting is hard, yo! There are no owners manuals to raising kids.  Just when I thought I was starting to grasp this parenting thing, my daughter thought it would be fun to write a new story in her childhood. It was just an ordinary day; I had left the house to go pick the kids up after school, stop off at home for a few minutes to change clothes before heading off to Girl Scouts.  We have our routine conversations on the way home.  You know, "How was your day?" and all that jazz. I had just pulled out of the school parking lot when I asked that question today.  My son started by telling me about a project he was working on.  We made it about 1-2 miles down the road when my life was changed forever!! It started with my son.  I honestly can't remember what he said, but my daughter must have handed him the bag of hair.  He asked her a few questions before I realized what was going on and he handed me the bag of hair. It was at this time that I think all the breath left my ... [ Read More ]

Flu Shots? Yes or No?

FluShots_MinuteClinic

While this post is sponsored by CVS MinuteClinic; all opinions are my own. Let's debate (peacefully please) flu shots!  Do you get them for yourself?  Do your kids get them? Why or why not?   I asked this question earlier in the month on Facebook and received a wide range of replies.  Many of you swear by the flu shot and get them every year for your entire family; while others are anti-vaccinations and never get the flu shot.  I can respect both sides of this debate. Post by The Eco Chic.   Fact: This is the first year that I can ever remember getting the flu shot myself. Fact: My children almost always receive the flu shot; although we haven't made it in to the doctors for them yet this year. Fact: My husband almost always gets the flu shot at work. Why did I decide to get a flu shot this year, but never have in the past?  I'm sure as a child and young adult that there were years when I probably received it; I just don't remember.  The last time I ...
