College Football is the Yin to My Yang

This post is sponsored by Smack Apparel.  The Yin and Yang symbol is an integral part of my being. My astrological sign is a Pisces which is represented by two fish swimming in opposite directions (similar to the Yin and Yang). There are two distinct characteristics that explain my happiness perfectly. I'm still mourning the end of summer vacation and trying to get back in the swing of the new school year. We didn't visit the beach nearly enough this summer for my "Yang" to be content. Aquamarine is still the color of choice on most days and enjoying the sun shining through the sunroof of my Jeep makes me happy. I have bags of seashells dying to be put on display from our recent trip to Sanibel Island. It still "feels" like summer. Every August I mourn that this season is coming to a close. ...but I'm equally as happy for my other side (my Yin) to make an appearance. My favorite color will be pushed to the back of the closet. My shorts will slowly be switched out for jeans. My ... [ Read More ]

50 Questions Answered – Vlog Style

A blogger friend of mine (Jen from Me, Myself and Jen) tagged me to answer 50 questions about myself, so I decided to answer them in a vlog!  I hope you don't get too annoyed with the prancing pug who's making clicking noises as he walks around the living room.  I really need to get him some puppy socks! If you want to watch this video directly on YouTube: After filming this I realized that I'm pretty boring and don't have a lot of "favorites!"  I also don't remember too many things. What questions do you still have for me?  Anything you'd like me to answer?  Just ask in the comments. I'm also tagging Jenny, Kim, and Maria to answer 50 things about themselves!  Can't wait to hear your responses. ... [ Read More ]

Snow White Sour Apple GoGo-Rita

News & Updates from Around the Cloth Diapering Community

Would you like to know the very latest happenings around the cloth diapering community?  I thought so! For starters, let me say that while I may not get my blog updated as much as I like I am still very active in the community.  You can find me most days on Facebook where I moderate several cloth diapering community pages including my own.  I can also be found blogging for other companies and appear as a guest of a few blogs as well.  I'll try to do better with cross posting here so you don't miss a single article from me. News from this week: Wednesday night Kim Rosas from Dirty Diaper Laundry hosted an amazing Twitter Party for the Giving Diapers, Giving Hope organization.  The community raised over $1,500 so far in their fundraising efforts to become an official non-profit and to continue supporting families in 2012.  You can read more about the campaign on Dirty Diaper Laundry and enter to win some amazing prizes through Feb. 14th on her Facebook fan page.  To review the ... My Mommy is a Booger…I Mean Blogger!

Have you ever tried to sit down and explain to your kids what a blogger is?  Why you spend all day on Facebook?  Why you have parties on Twitter? Then you need a copy of "My Mommy is a Blogger" by Sommer Poquette (Green and Clean Mom).  I finally broke down and ordered my own personal copy and decided to keep it for my kids for Christmas so they haven't read it yet.  While they haven't read it I had to sneak a peek for myself. OMG - I was laughing hysterically as I was reading it.  I was afraid that I was going to wake up the kids and they'd see me reading it and want to see what was so funny.  Sommers' kids are about the same age as mine so I think I've had some of these same conversations with my kids (and my hubby).  I think next year for the Great American Teach In I'm going to convince my kids teacher to let me come in and read "My Mommy is a Blogger" and explain to them what I do for a living. If you are a blogger and have elementary age kids I think your kids would really ... [ Read More ]

Wordless Wednesday – Halloween (in Real Life)

These are my babies!  OK, only the two on the left are my real kids (worker man and China doll).  The others are my best friends' children...but I call them my own!  The first time we took this photo there were only 3 of them and they were only 3 yrs old! In an effort to stay eco-friendly both of my kids got to pick their costume from their large stash of dress up clothes.  This is what he choose.  He collected candy in his box. My 'real life' friends!  We've been friends for 5-6 years since I moved to the area.  I love my gals!  (I'm the one in the white shirt - my son called me an eco-witch.)  My 'costume' (if you can call it that) was stolen from my kids dress up box.  I'm wearing his Darth Vadar cape, her witch hat, and you can't see it but I have a green extension in (stolen from the Rockin' Green gals at the ABC Expo.) So there you have it, a glimpse into my real life outside of my computer.  This is where I try to keep myself grounded and remind myself about what really ... [ Read More ]

Haute Green Box Nightmare

Yes, it's been almost 2 weeks since BlogHer but I'm still pretending like my virtual friends and I are still hanging out, laughing, and having a fabulous time in San Diego.  Here are a few more pictures I found on my iPhone today.   ... [ Read More ]

A Day in Pictures – BlogHer ’11

View from Hotel

It's way too early for iPhone photos but here are my best friend and I on the plane at 6am ET. View from our room at BlogHer '11.  Marriott Marquis & Marina - San Diego The packages that arrived from our #HauteGreen Sponsors The fish taco restaurant that it took us an hour to reach on public transportation because our stop was closed for construction. The shrimp and tuna tacos were worth the trip! Did you know I love baseball?  Enjoying  a Padres (v Dodgers) game with my hubby! I'm only awake because of the Starbucks I had before we got there but this is us after a day of traveling. The Gaslamp District - across from the Convention Center & Hotel. And that is how we spent day 1 (arrival day) in San Diego for BlogHer.  I'm sure I won't see my hubby much after this afternoon once I find all my blogger friends so it was nice to have a day with him and our friends before the madness begins.  I got a pretty good amount of sleep but I still woke up at 6am PST so ... My Mommy is a Blogger – by Sommer Poquette

My son always asks me "mommy what are you doing on the computer today?"  He's probably the only kid in his school who is well versed in his 'social media' vocabulary.  He know's that mommy tweets for work, uses Facebook to interact with customers and readers, and that I blog (and sometimes it's even about him).  He's even been my product tester and knows when something special arrives in the mail.  But how do you explain to your child what exactly a "blogger" is? Sommer Poquette (AKA @GreenMom) and I met last year at BlogHer '10.  I had no idea until a few months ago that she was working on a children's book about this topic.  I'll let you watch the video trailer to the book while I go place my order for this book...   This is a perfect book for the child of a blogger! I'm actually thinking about buying a copy for my sons school too. If you'd like to learn more about Sommer or her book, My Mommy is a Blogger, please click here to visit Green and Clean Mom ... What Makes You #HauteGreen?

I’ve had the idea of hosting a special meet-and-greet for months in conjunction with my trip to BlogHer.  When I arrived at BlogHer last year I didn't know anyone and I hid in my hotel room tweeting away trying to find someone to have lunch with.  I ventured out and made a great friend (thanks Kate for having lunch with me) and the rest of the weekend I was a social butterfly.  This year I decided to join forces with some of my blogger friends to help me organize the details of the party.  Once we started making our invite list we realized just how large the community is and how hard it would be to limit the invites to only 50 bloggers.  There are so many wonderfully talented bloggers and over 3,600 of them attending BlogHer. We had an agenda of course – since the organizers and I are cloth diapering addicts and advocates we wanted to reach out to other like-minded bloggers.  What are other like-minded bloggers like?  What do they blog about?  We found in our search that like-minded ...
