Dinosaur Rawr Baby Shower Decoration Ideas #FluffinAwesome

Baby Shower Food Ideas

Decorating for a baby shower can be one of the most fun (and sometimes stressful) parts of planning a baby shower.  Here is a roundup of fun ideas for a Dinosaur themed cloth diaper baby shower. Click back to yesterdays post for directions on how to build the cloth diaper cake pictured above. Use some of the smaller baby gifts for decorations!  Balm Baby Diaper Balm and Molly's Suds were used to help decorate the cloth diaper cake.  You could also hang baby clothes from the clothesline on the wall. Include your food in the decorating.  Blueberries, candy, and carrots were all included in this theme.  The giant clothespin (found at Michael's) can be used many different ways.  We used it to label the Dino-Treats for the guests. Larger clothespins (also found at Micheal's) were used for the wall decorations and hold a few cloth diapers, along with a ribbon streamer decorated with baby dinosaur eggs.  Each dinosaur egg has a sweet saying such as baby boy, ... Dinosaur Rawr Cloth Diaper Cake Tutorial #FluffinAwesome

Cloth Diaper Cake Dinosaur Theme

Diaper cakes have become a very popular baby shower gift these days and some of them are absolutely adorable.  The problem with most diaper cakes though is that they are created using disposable diapers.  Nothing is more disappointing for a mom who plans on using cloth diapers than receiving a disposable diaper cake at their shower.  If you are planning a baby shower for someone who is planning on using cloth diapers, here is a quick tutorial for how to incorporate cloth diapers into a diaper cake for about the same amount of money. This cloth diaper cake is made up of 3 tiers with a baby legging cupcake topper.  It rests on a bucket that I found at the Dollar Store this summer.  I used mostly flat cloth diapers to make up each tier but you could easily use swaddle blankets or cloth diaper inserts (from pocket diapers) to make up the tiers.  The top tier was created with a pack of flannel cloth baby wipes and a flat diaper.  All of the ribbons and accessories were from the craft ... Sea Shell Picture Frame Tutorial For Kids

Sea Shell Picture Frame

We just got back from a week long beach vacation and we may have collected a huge bag full of sea shells, sea glass, and other sea rocks.  When we got home we made a quick trip to Michael's to pick up some craft supplies.  Picture frames, glue, jewelry cord, ribbon, candles, and jars are all sitting next to our dining room table ready for us to get our craft on! We weren't home for 5 minutes and my daughter (she's my crafty minion) was begging me to make the shell heart frame!  The begging continued for almost 24 hours before we actually had time to sit down and work on it.  I probably won't be opening an Etsy store anytime soon but we had a lot of fun and will have sweet memories when we look at it. Supplies Needed: Wooden picture frame Miscellaneous paint brushes Acrylic paint (assorted colors) Elmer's Glue Sea Shells Picture from the Beach Directions: Paint the wooden picture frame.  You can tell that we had different techniques.  I prefer one solid ... Passport to Imagination with Michael’s Stores

michaels craft classes

We're going into week 3 of summer vacation and I have to say, I'm surviving this summer like a boss!  Our first week out of school was a family vacation so that was pretty easy.  Last week was our first real week at home while I attempt to work AND juggle kids.  We spent most of the week at karate since my son was testing for his 1st degree Black Belt this past weekend (he passed - yeah!!). Friday, I scheduled a Passport to Imagination craft class at Michael's for the kids.  This summer your kids can spend 2 craft-filled hours at Michael's (without mom nagging them) for only $2.  That's just long enough to run to Starbucks, grab a latte, and get a little bit of work done in peace and quiet! As long as your kids are over 5 you can drop them off and don't have to stick around.  The kids are safe in a back room with a few Michael's employees and aren't allowed to leave until you get back.  It was a pretty full class at our local Michael's and the kids ranged from about 5-13 yrs; ... DIY Disney Salt Dough Necklaces #disneyside

Disney Salt Dough Necklaces #disneyside

Earlier in the week I shared a recipe from our Disney Side @Home Celebration, today I'm sharing with you one of the craft projects we did during our party.  Before the party I made up a batch of salt dough necklaces for the guests to paint.  I used the Disney cookie cutters we received in our party package from Disney Parks and MomSelect for the project.  You could do the entire project during the party but the dough needs to back for 2 hours, which is why I prepped them ahead of time. To make salt dough all you need is 1 cup of flour, 1/2 cup of salt and about 1/4-1/2 cup of water.  Sift the salt and flour together in a small bowl and slowly add water to it until you get the consistency of dough, but not sticky. Once you have your dough the right consistency you can flour your surface and roll the dough to about 1/8-1/4" thick.  Then use your cookie cutters to cut the desired shapes.  If you are going to be using these like necklaces (or ornaments or key chains) be sure to ... Snow White Sour Apple GoGo-Rita

Cross Stitch 101: Supplies

Cross Stitch 101 Supplies

If you follow me on Instagram (@TheEcoChic) then you know that I've taken up a new hobby this year; cross stitch! I'm pretty sure my Grandmother once taught me how to cross stitch using that hard plastic stuff with yarn but I've never cross stitched as an adult (until now).  The only reason I decided to give it a try was because my own Instagram feed was full of friends working on these really adorable projects.  I've always been a crafty, creative person so I figured I would give it a try. You'd think I would have started with a "beginner" project but instead I jumped into a year long sampler pattern from The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery.  Each month you receive a new section of the pattern to work on and at the end of the year you'll have a completed project.  The one I'm currently working on is the Once Upon A Time sampler. When you sign up for the sampler (or any of their other projects) you'll receive an email with a PDF document that lists all the supplies you'll need.  I ... [ Read More ]
