Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

There have been so many stories that I have wanted to share with you this week but the words haven’t made it to the paper (or blog).  I love to share my stories with you (the good and the bad) but some things just can’t be talked about online.  It’s been a challenging week – let’s just say that.  Thankfully, I can find humor among my challenges and know that I will wake up tomorrow and everything will be fine.

My Love I couldn’t be more proud of my husband this week as he has been working on a project away from home.  This week will make the second time that we’ve been apart on our anniversary (3/7) in our twelve years of marriage.  He was hesitant to leave because of our anniversary but what he’s doing is so much bigger than us.  More on that later.  I love you and miss you baby!

Meatloaf Muffin Tins With just the kids and I home for dinner each night we get to eat a few dishes that he doesn’t really enjoy – like meatloaf!  I got all Martha Stewart and made muffin tin meatloaf and served it over mashed potatoes with peas.  It was fabulous and the kids ate every single bite!  Curious how I made these?  Take your favorite meatloaf recipe (mine is just ground beef, egg, bread crumbs, and seasoning) and cook it in a muffin tin.  I lightly sprayed the muffin tin and baked them for 30 minutes at 375°F.  The last 5 minutes I topped them with ketchup and shredded cheese.  It was super simple and the kids even helped me mix up the meatloaf and set the table.

Sofa Sleepers I don’t know why it is but routines are never quite the same when one parent is gone.  My kids love to sleep with me when dads away and this week hasn’t been any different.  During a typical week the kids will both be asleep by 8-8:30pm without any problems.  This allows me time to blog or work for a few hours.  This week my daughter has NOT wanted to go to bed by herself (even in my room).  Tonight I resorted to letting her sleep on the sofa with the dog (he’s not allowed on the sofa) and they were both fast asleep in 5 minutes – no joke!  Lesson: Do what works!

My Heart My oldest is the one on the right with the blue belt.  He’ll be 10 next week (holy wow – when did that happen) and loves taekwondo.  This week they are learning how to use the swords.  Even though he’s had a challenging week at school (man, I really wish I was brave enough to blog about it but the boy deserves his privacy) I could not be more proud of him.

Napping at Karate Never mind her, she’s just napping on the mat at karate!  I don’t think the instructor really likes this but I choose my battles.  Once they start heading her way I make her move.

Finally, I leave you with a picture that has been “liked” and commented on from Facebook and Instagram today.  This one is also at the karate studio (so at least it’s relatively clean). It’s a good thing I decided to follow her into the bathroom today.  Normally, I will let her make this trip by herself – after all she is four!  The last time I let her go by herself she came out with her pants around her ankles (in front of the class of 20 kids) and asked me to wipe her butt!  I cannot make this stuff up!  Thankfully today’s de-robing was done behind closed doors and no one had to witness it – except for all of you!  From all of the comments I received I’m not the only one who’s toddlers have to get naked to poop.

Now that I’m done laughing and crying from all these pictures I’m going to go to bed so I can start it all over again tomorrow.  The rest of the week brings my anniversary, my good friends wedding, a karate tournament, and perhaps even another day trip to Disney.

To quote Ferris Bueller, “Life moves pretty fast.  If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”

Great photo of the clothes on the floor! A familiar scene with my 4-yr-old as well. :)
I wanted to tell you that I love that quote – I actually put it in the yearbook in high school! (I was on staff)
