My Friend Huggles – Mia and Lil B are BFF’s!

Lil B and Mia - My Friend Huggles

My daughter has a new BFF, Mia.  Look at the smile on Lil’ B’s face as she met Mia for the first time.  She hugged her and hugged her all night long.  Mia is one of the new life-size (36″ in height) character dolls from My Friend Huggles out of Canada.  Mia is one of 6 dolls in the set of dolls who are as unique as their names.  There is Lily, Kira, Sophia, Rubi, Bia, and Mia and they each have their own character trait that they represent.  Mia’s special virtue is “honesty.”

My Friend Huggles Special Virtue

You can see on the special ribbon tag above that the virtue is explained for the child.  I love the line “Saying I’m sorry is being brave.”  What a neat truth to teach to our children.  I made sure that I read over these the virtue tag with Lil’ B and talked with her about what it meant to be honest.  We struggle with this one at 3.5 yrs old – she’s always telling me “Brother hit me!” when he’s in another room playing quietly all by himself.

My Friend Huggles Forever Mark

This last image is a picture of Mia’s forever mark on her chest.  We’ve written Lil’ B’s name on her heart as a commitment to be her friend forever.  You can see the forever mark is written in both French and English.  I love that it encourages a second language as part of the learning (and I’m a little partial to French because that’s the language I studied in both high school and college).  I wonder if my BFF would let me write my name on her chest as a commitment to our friendship?? Although that may be a little weird as an adult.

My Friend Huggles

Mia resides on my daughters bed and I’m trying to get her to feel connected to Mia.  Lil’ B is struggling with bedtime and staying in her bed.  My husband and I have spoiled her this summer (ok, we’ve spoiled her for longer than that) and let her sleep with us more than she slept in her room.  She doesn’t like to sleep alone and gets scared when she hears noises (like the A/C turning on).  I’m trying to encourage her to hug Mia and know that Mia is her friend and will be with her, holding her hand all night long.  How’s that working out for us??  We’ll see!  We’ve only been working on this for about a week but she hasn’t made that bond or connection with Mia just yet to keep her in bed.
